Epiroc is now supplying Bio chisel paste for all its new hydraulic breakers.

The formulation is approved by the European Commission for use in environmentally sensitive applications, including in aggregates and quarrying.

The Bio paste is used to grease the wear bushings in the breakers and is based on special synthetic esters that Epiric says are easily biodegradable. The paste is intended to help prevent bushing wear and prolong working tool life.

Inside a hydraulic breaker, the ambient working temperature reaches up to 1100°C under extreme load. Sweden-based Epiroc states that in these conditions the standard greases available on the market will liquefy and disappear.

The Bio chisel paste is designed for effectiveness across a wide range of temperatures, from –30°C up to +1100°C. Epiroc says it has high load carrying characteristics with very good separation capacity, and helps lower breaker operating costs by reducing bushing wear and working tool breakage. It adds that the paste has high water resistance which makes it suitable for underwater applications, and it also offers a high level of corrosion protection.

The paste is suitable for automatic lubrication on Epiroc hydraulic breakers with ContiLubeTM II Micro or ContiLubeTM II, or for manual greasing with a grease gun on Epiroc or any other breakers.
