Sandvik has paid tribute to Mats Eriksson after the well-regarded executive announced his decision to retire in 2027.
The current president of Sandvik’s mining business area will step down from his position and from the Sandvik group’s executive management team in 2026 , when a successor transitions into the role.
Sandvik has tentatively set the transition date to July 1. Following this change, Eriksson will stay on at Sandvik as a senior advisor and managing director for mining and construction until his retirement.
Sandvik president and chief executive officer Stefan Widing said Eriksson had made a significant contribution to the company.
“Mats has made significant contributions to Sandvik, and he has led the mining business area in a very good way over the past years. I’m pleased that he will stay on as senior advisor until he retires in 2027, after ensuring a good handover to his successor as business area president,” Widing said.
