The hike in Estonia’s environmental taxes, such as the tax on the extraction of mineral resources, should be in compliance with the inflation hike, says Meelis Einstein, chairman of the board of the Association of Construction Material Producers of Estonia.
According to the Association, the recent 20% a year to 2015 increase in the pollution tax and of the excavation of mineral resources tax will undermine material manufacturers’ investment stability.
The Association also predicts the environmental tax hike will push up the prices of building materials and road building costs, and may lead to some companies relocating business away from Estonia.
