Euro Auctions is expecting to see a lot of keenly contested bidding for used construction and quarrying equipment during two major international one-day sales. At 9am on Wednesday 26 October the first of around 400 lots will go under the hammer at the Northern Ireland-headquartered firm’s site in Atlanta, USA. Then on Thursday 3 November, 600 further lots are being auctioned off at Euro Auctions’ site in Brisbane, Australia. The Atlanta, USA sale includes a good choice of 2010 specification New Holla

The Atlanta, USA sale includes a good choice of 2010 specification New Holland L170 and L175 skid steer loaders which are expected to achieve strong prices. Other lots include a good selection of backhoe loaders plus there are already eight different dozers up for grabs. There are also 20tonne excavators available including an unused New Holland E215C.

Of particular note at the Brisbane, Australia auction are a number of low hours CAT D8R tracked crawler tractors and the slightly smaller CAT D6R III models, all with low hours. These are expected to attract considerable interest from bidders and achieve high final bids.

“Having forged excellent relationships with many major US companies, our foray into the American equipment industry sector started in late 2012, and we haven’t look back since,” explains Jonnie Keys, general manager for Euro Auctions global activities and the country manager for the Atlanta site. “Our auctions in the US are becoming established events with excellent turnouts being achieved and we’ve also seen a particularly rapid growth in internet bidding over recent years, which further extends the reach of our events into the wider global market.”

“The Australian market for used plant and machinery has turned around over recent months and our ‘no reserve’ auctions are now firmly established as an excellent platform for selling and buying all manner of quality used and sometimes even brand new equipment,” adds Joe Rafferty, Euro Auctions’ country manager for Australia. “Construction is booming at the moment with house building being the main focus, fuelled in part by significant capital investment from China, but many good sized civil engineering projects are also coming on-stream.”

Rafferty continues: “With no indigenous manufacturing, Australia is totally reliant on machinery imports and retains its preference for high-end International brands. With marques like Caterpillar and Komatsu being much sought after and with new equipment commanding a premium, demand for used equipment remains consistently high and prices are strong. Good quality, mid-range utility equipment like backhoes, diggers and dozers, along with other smaller items of general site machinery are off particularly interest at the moment.

“Looking further ahead, some big crushing and screening equipment is coming to the used market, which could meet growing demand from Australia’s construction or mining sectors, and this is being ear-marked for the sale in February 2017 – setting things up for the biggest Euro Auction sale ever in Australia.”

The Atlanta auction site runs parallel to Interstate 85, in Newnan (Exit 51) near Atlanta, Georgia, USA, which is less than 25 miles and under 25 minutes’ drive from Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. The Australian site is at 153 Main Beach Road, Pinkenba near Brisbane, Queensland.

Other upcoming Euro Auctions sales include: Dormagen in Germany on 26 and 27 October, the Atlanta auction on 26 October; Brisbane, Australia on 3 November 2016; Dromore in Northern Ireland on 4 and 5 November; and Zaragoza on 22 November 2016.
