The start of European Minerals Day was officially launched this morning with an event at a kaolin quarry in Vetovo, Bulgaria supported by European environment commissioner Janez Potocnik.
Throughout the weekend quarries all over Europe will be hosting open days and events to celebrate the initiative and improve understanding of the need for minerals, as well as the positive impact of quarrying on the environment and biodiversity.
