Unicem, the French cement industries' union, has seen a poor start to 2013. Deliveries of aggregates were down 5% in January 2013 compared to December 2012 and were down 12% year-on-year. Ready-mix concrete dropped 6.1% over one month, and declined 15.7% compared to January 2012. This performance is linked to an overall sluggish environment and weather vagaries.

Unicem, the French cement industries’ union, has seen a poor start to 2013.

The survey carried out by Unicem among professionals revealed that order books continue to represent close to seven months of activity, which is quite high.

It is said that housing construction starts dropped 17.8% to 346,500 units in 2012, and building permits were down 7.3% to 495,500.
