Construction products provider GCP, which is part of Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals, has joined the World Cement Association as an associate corporate member.

The WCA says that GCP’s recent integration with Saint-Gobain has expanded the company’s reach and expertise. Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals offers cement additives, concrete admixtures and specialty building materials, through the combined ventures of GCP and Chryso.

Together GCP and Chryso offer global construction solutions that are designed to help customers achieve carbon reduction and net zero strategies through the efficient and cost-effective use of materials.

Through their combined knowledge and solutions, GCP and Chryso products enable cement and concrete producers to reach their sustainability goals by reducing energy consumption levels and keeping returned concrete out of landfills, while improving the longevity and durability of structures.

For instance, last year, GCP customers saved approximately 23 million tonnes of CO2 by using GCP’s cement additives and concrete admixtures, comparable to taking approximately seven million cars off the road every day.

WCA CEO Ian Riley commented: “GCP shares WCA’s commitment to supporting cement and concrete producers around the world to achieve net zero emissions, which is a major priority for our members. With GCP’s recent integration into the Saint-Gobain Construction Chemicals family, we look forward to further exploring and expanding the role that these technologies can have in reducing the environmental impact of the construction sector.”

Riccardo Stoppa, Cement BU deputy director – Saint-Gobain Construction chemicals, said: “We are delighted to be collaborating with WCA and sharing our knowledge and expertise with its members and the cement and concrete sector. By working together, we hope to provide meaningful solutions and draw closer to reducing the sector’s high carbon footprint, a critical challenge for the hard-to-abate industry.”
