The Mitteldeutsche Hartstein-Industrie (MHI) is again making suitable areas in Europe’s largest basalt quarry in Homberg/Nieder-Ofleiden, Germany, available for Steinexpo 2014. Along with the signing of the contract, the Steinexpo organiser Geoplan has been finalising preparations for the 9th Steinexpo (3-6 September 2014) event since the start of the year. “Together we have wrestled with the right strategy for success,” says Steinexpo trade fair manager Dr Friedhelm Rese.

“The final result was worth the struggle and effort. This was demonstrated by both the positive atmosphere at the end of the 8th demonstration exhibition for raw materials and building materials industry as well as the statistics.”

Some 39,100 visitors attended the 8th trade fair where 210 exhibitors represented approximately 340 brands.

Exhibitors rated the high proportion of trade visitors of 92.8%, which provided for intensive professional exchange, at the 2011 event as a particularly positive aspect of the trade fair. The increased internationality of the visitor profile (21.8%) was also praised.

Geoplan says that although influential exhibitors have already reconfirmed their participation, almost every Steinexpo option has to be planned new, because the exhibition areas in the active stone quarry for 2014 differs quite substantially from those that were available in 2011.

The 9th industry gathering of the raw and building material industry will have a total of approximately 50,000m² exhibition space at its disposal.

Dr Rese explains: “We will start in June 2013 to meet interested exhibitors on site in the stone quarry to investigate all options to fairly allocate the presentation areas. Naturally, this offer is available as a special service by the trade fair management and open to all interested exhibitors to provide manufacturers, dealers, suppliers and service providers across the spectrum of raw material extraction, processing, refining and building material recycling the ideal platform for practical demonstrations.”

The trade association for building and building material machinery in the Association of German Machinery and Plant Manufacturing ( VDMA) is again the technical and conceptual partner of Steinexpo 2014 and the German Aggregates Federation ( MIRO) is also actively engaged in the conception, publication and implementation of the demonstration exhibition. The same applies for the German Association for Construction Industry Engineers and Professionals (VDBUM), which represents technology consumers from various sectors.

Internationally, Steinexpo benefits from the partnership commitment of the European Aggregates Association (UEPG) in Brussels, Belgium, which represents the overall interests of about 32,000 companies in the mineral resource industry throughout Europe.
