The facility, at Newcastle House, Oliver Close, Grays, which stands on a 0.4 hectare site, will service a large portion of the Miller customer base in London and south-east England, and will be a service centre for the company’s new breaker line, which was launched at the recent Hillhead show.
The new facility will become a “centre of excellence” and will be home to Miller’s existing product lines of couplers and buckets.
It will help oversee the introduction of the newly-added range of breakers, which range from 0.5-1tonnes up to 60-100tonnes, and which are “a premium product in terms of features and quality, supported by excellent spares and servicing back up.”
Each Miller breaker is sold with a two-year warranty.
Among those attending the opening were Mike Askew and Brendan Quill, who were recently appointed as Managing Director and Sales and Marketing Director respectively, and who are the new business managers for the company.
While the new facility represents a major investment for Miller, the company is also investing in automation at its Cramlington site, 14km north of the city of Newcastle upon Tyne, north-east England.
The new automation will allow greater flexibility in the manufacturing process, with the aim of further improving availability of their couplers, buckets, breakers and other attachments, which will lead to increased levels of customer satisfaction.
The company has also opened an office in Australia as this market territory continues to grow, and is increasing the size of its operation in India.
