Hanson UK has been recognised with The 5% Club gold award for its efforts in employee training.
The award recognises the company’s contribution to the continued developed of its employees through ‘earn and learn’ schemes such as apprenticeships and graduate programmes.
The 5% Club has more than 600 members all of which are committed to playing their part in addressing youth employment and the skills shortage and pledge to work towards having a minimum of five per cent of their UK workforce enrolled in formalised training schemes.
The club is committed to ensuring that in the next five years 5% of its members in the UK workforce are young people on training schemes.
Hanson’s HR director Clare Mayo said: “In order to achieve our business objectives and cultural aspirations we need to improve the diversity of our teams and think differently as an organisation, which is one of the reasons why we value and need to recruit and retain young people.
“We are delighted to have met The 5% Club’s gold standard and actually invest in just over 10 per cent of our workforce through a broad range of ‘earn and learn’ programmes.”
