A team of 11 potential senior leaders from Hanson UK’s career development programme rolled their sleeves up to make a series of improvements at Jamie’s Farm in Rowlestone, county Herefordshire, western England.

Jamie’s Farm acts as a catalyst for change, enabling disadvantaged young people to thrive academically, socially and emotionally. This is achieved through a novel residential experience at its county Wiltshire and county Herefordshire bases and a rigorous follow-up programme, combining ‘farming, family and therapy’.

The Hanson group selected the charity as part of their learning programme and volunteered to build a new outdoor dining area, resurface the access lane and improve hardstanding areas. The company also donated 200 tonnes of aggregate, 120 tonnes of asphalt and 70m³ of concrete along with safety clothing for future use on the farm.

Jamie Feilden, Jamie’s Fram founder and CEO, said: “We are thrilled with this new partnership with Hanson. The combination of man-power plus materials has really enhanced our Herefordshire farm and will ensure we can give the highest quality residential programmes for our visiting young people.

“This is a company going above and beyond in terms of giving back and is a great example of the good that can come from businesses working with a charity. We are so grateful for the generosity of Hanson, its talent team for making this all happen and its CEO Daniel Cooper in offering this incredible level of support.”

Ed Roberts, a regional quantity surveyor in Hanson’s contracting division, said: “It was brilliant to be involved in a project that saw people from across our business come together to pull this off. More importantly, it is so rewarding to realise the difference this will make to Jamie’s Farm and the work it does with disadvantaged young people.”
