HD Hyundai Construction Equipment has been named among the finalists for the 2025 bauma Innovation Awards.

The company is in the final three for the climate protection category due to its HW155H hydrogen-powered wheeled excavator concept. The show’s judges recognised the potential of the HW155H to reduce exhaust emissions and enable carbon reduction on construction sites.

The latest version of the HD Hyundai machine will be the centrepiece of the company’s stand at bauma 2025 in April. The stand will also feature several other machines and operating solutions from the company, showcasing zero-emission options for construction and industrial machinery.

The company said the HW155H will show attendees the future potential of drive solutions. It is powered by electricity generated by onboard hydrogen fuel cells. For construction customers, it will deliver a similar operating speed and power to a conventional diesel-powered excavator.

HD Hyundai will unveil a range of energy storage and refuelling solutions, which it has labelled as a “world first” for the construction industry. The innovations have been jointly developed with the Hyundai Motor Company to use hydrogen in a solution that can work across infrastructure, civil engineering and building projects.

HD Hyundai’s low-pressure, high-density, solid-state solution will have double the capacity of a conventional tank. It will also use lower filing pressure to reduce fill times and improve safety on site.
