Heidelberg Materials UK has created a Specification of Highway Works (SHW) translator tool, a free online resource designed to help highways professionals navigate the recent changes to asphalt specifications made by National Highways (NH).

The easy-to-use tool provides a quick and reliable way to cross-reference legacy SHW clauses with the new pavement-related sections, updated by NH earlier this year. It is designed to reduce the risk of asphalt specification errors and ensure continuity across new and existing highway contracts.

“We developed the translator tool to support our customers through this transition,” said Adrian Hadley, Head of Technical – Asphalts and Aggregates at Heidelberg Materials UK.

“Our translator tool includes a reverse search function, allowing users to find updated sections from legacy clauses and vice versa, making it as straightforward as possible to work confidently with the new asphalt specifications.”
