Heidelberg Materials UK has announced Scott Cooper will be the next managing director of its national road surfacing and contracting infrastructure business.

Cooper previously worked at Kier Group as the company’s managing director of transporation, major projects and design. In that role, Cooper oversaw the delivery of major projects involving major clients including National Highways.

“I am delighted to join the Heidelberg Materials team and feel privileged to pick up the Contracting baton,” Cooper said.

“The company has a long-standing reputation in the UK for being collaborative, customer-focused and reliable and I have witnessed this first hand in my previous role. I was also drawn to Heidelberg Materials’ focus on sustainability and recycling which is vitally important in the maintenance, renewal and construction of our road network.

“I am looking forward to continuing the great work that has been done to date. I want to empower and support the team to drive innovation and forward thinking, which will allow us to continue to install quality products on the UK road network and excite our customers with our sustainable solutions and reliable delivery.”

Heidelberg Materials UK asphalt and contracting managing director Gareth Day welcomed Cooper to the company.

“He brings a wealth of experience in the construction and highways industry having held a number of director-level positions in the sector,” he said.

“I’m looking forward to working with Scott and the rest of the Contracting team on delivering innovative, sustainable solutions to our customers.”
