Heidelberg Materials UK has confirmed it will resume supplying limestone materials from its Fareham depot later this month.

The company is looking to expand the supply of premium-grade limestone into the Hampshire market via its rail-connected Fareham site , which has been in hiatus for multiple years.

Mendips and Masters area manager Vincent Pitt said the move would support the company to fully utilise its network of rail-connected depots.

“We are excited to be returning to our Fareham depot. We see resuming direct supply to the area as a real vote of confidence in the future of the Hampshire market, and we look forward to developing relationships with existing customers as well as developing new ones,” he said.

The move will offer customers limestone materials from its Whatley quarry as well as aggregate products for use in building or specialist applications. The company has estimated that the Fareham depot will manage with 150,000 tonnes of material a year with plans to expand that to around 200,000 tonnes over the next three years.

“Our Fareham depot, located close to the A27, is well-placed to service many of the major schemes currently underway or about to start in the region as well as smaller-scale projects in Southampton and Portsmouth,” Heidelberg Materials UK strategic and commercial excellence manager Jim Pearce said.
