Hewitt Robins International has completed a turnkey project to replace a Niagara screen at Lafarge Whisby, County Lincolnshire, eastern England within a four-week timescale. The existing Niagara screen was non-repairable, so delivery of a new screen in the shortest timescale was critical. The new Hewitt Robins V-13 1.8 x 6.0 double- deck replacement screen was designed, manufactured, installed and commissioned in four weeks, allowing Whisby to stop production while the machine was being built.

The new screen had to fit into the existing structure and pick up the same footprints with little or no modification.

It is constructed of 10mm thick side plates with cross member spacing every 600mm. The two-bearing oil-lubricated vibrator unit was also supplied with an 11kw drive motor, close fitting guard, coiled springs, new spray bars and manifold, rubber cross member protection and the existing modules were re-used off the original Niagara screen.

The Hewitt Robins screen installation went well, on time and on budget. Operationally the screen is meeting our expectation and our production requirements,” says Stuart Moore, quarry manager, Lafarge Whisby.
