Hill Engineering, a leading attachment manufacturer based in Newry, Northern Ireland, is showing its new TEFRA Tilt Hitch; TEFRA coupler, and its Titan buckets at Hillhead.

The new TEFRA Tilt coupler was shown at Hillhead 2014 in prototype format and is now in full production.

It is said to offer the advantages of the award-winning TEFRA coupler but also offers increased productivity and versatility in multiple applications.

The attachment is available for machines sizes ranging from 3-20tonnes and, and boasts advanced technology from German manufacturers HKS. The new attachment’s XtraTilt power actuator allows it to achieve the 180° tilt function.

“We see this market growing significantly in the coming months and years as operators demand more from their machines and potentially enter into new markets,” says Oliver Phelan, Hill Engineering’s sales and marketing manager.

Hill Engineering says that the award-winning fully-automatic coupler TEFRA, also on display, has transformed health and safety on construction sites around the world, and has been significant in Hill’s financial growth and increase in market share.

The coupler has only three moving parts, and is said to have been proven to reduce downtime extensively and make customers more productive in their operations.

“The safety systems in the TEFRA eliminate one of the most dangerous aspects of handling attachments, which is the risk of attachments coming away completely.  Hill Engineering solved this by using a positive locking system rather than a gravity locking system, making the crucial safety feature active and not passive in the way it works,” says the company.
