Vaccari Antonio Giulio SpA’s basalt quarry in San Pietro Mussolino, Italy, produces essential materials for railway and road construction projects. With a 15-year licence to continue its operations in the quarry, it dedicates 60% of its output to railway projects and 40% to road sites, such as the aggregates for the asphalt and drainage required.

Following its positive experience with Hitachi construction machinery, Vaccari recently decided to add the Stage V-compliantZX530LCH-7to its fleet, which already includes two other Hitachi large excavators: a ZX470 andZX490.

Production Manager Mauro Pesavento points out the importance of having a machine set up specifically for working with heavy and abrasive rock materials, and in particular a strong undercarriage for optimum stability and safety during operations.

“During rock-clearing operations, it is essential that the operator has a guarantee of safety,” he explains. “These are factors that come before the comfort of the seat or the cab – which are also indisputable. We want to provide operators with a machine that makes them feel safe.”

First-class comfort and safety

The ZX530LCH-7 has an industry-leading cab with first-class comfort and safety features. The Aerial Angle camera system gives an exceptional 270-degree bird’s-eye view of the job site and operators can choose from six image options to see the machine’s immediate environment. LED work lights and a windscreen wiper with an increased sweeping area further improve visibility in challenging working conditions.

Within the cab, the synchronised motion of the seat and console reduces operator fatigue and the console height is adjustable with three positions to choose from. Easy operation comes from the ergonomic design of the console and switches, and the hi-res anti-glare 8″ screen is also easy to view.

A satisfied customer

The large Zaxis-7 excavator was purchased from local authorised dealer Comac, which is responsible for a territory in the nort-east of Italy.Comac’sPadova Branch Manager and Veneto Regional Sales Manager, Mario Rebella, acknowledges that Vaccari’s satisfaction with previous Hitachi machines played a key role in the company’s most recent acquisition, alongside the dealer support.

“I have been working with Vaccari for four years, and like all our customers, they recognise Hitachi as the benchmark for reliability in the market. In addition, the customer signed a maintenance contract of up to 10,000 hours to benefit from our rapid response times.

“This alongside Vaccari’s previous positive experience with Zaxis excavators, certainly influenced their decision to purchase theZX530LCH-7.”
