Holcim has completed the acquisition of a German demolition materials recycling business and has agreed to purchase a similar business in France, as it accelerates circular construction across Europe.
Aggregates Business reported earlier in the week that Holcim has closed the acquisition of Thames Materials, a leading recycler of construction demolition materials in West London, England, and its surrounding counties. Now, the Switzerland-headquartered global building materials group has acquired a majority stake in A&S Recycling, a Hanover-based company operating in North Germany. Holcim has also agreed to purchase a recycler of construction demolition materials in Northwest France.
The three companies have a combined annual permitted processing capacity of around 1.3 million tonnes.

The acquisitions will scale Holcim’s circular construction technology ECOCycle. With West London-based Thames Materials, Holcim can now provide circular construction services across the whole of Greater London. The transaction follows Holcim’s 2023 acquisition of East London-based Sivyer Logistics.
A&S Recycling’s three sites in the Greater Hanover area will bring the total number of Holcim’s recycling hubs in Germany to 10. The acquisition of the recycling business in Northwest France will reinforce Holcim’s footprint in the region and bring the number of recycling centres the company operates in the country to 28.
