Cement manufacturer Holcim Philippines has appointed new leaders for its plants in Bulacan and Misamis Oriental, while its head of logistics operations has been promoted to senior vice president.

Bobby Garza, vice president for operations of the Lugait, Misamis Oriental plant will now lead the Norzagaray, Bulacan facility, the company’s biggest plant in terms of production capacity. Garza is a licensed mining engineer and has attended leadership programmes in IMD Switzerland.

Taking over from Garza as vice president of operations of the Misamis Oriental plant is Arnold Pepino, who was previously the site’s production manager. Pepino started his career in Holcim Philippines as a cadet engineer in 1996 and has held different roles and projects in production, process and manufacturing excellence. Pepino holds a Masters in Business Administration and a computer engineering degree.

Edwin Villas has been appointed as the senior vice president logistics after serving as officer-in-charge of the department since 2019, concurrent to his role as vice president for sales for the Greater Manila Region and South Luzon. He has previously held senior sales leadership roles and served in procurement and internal audit. Villas is a Certified Professional for Supply Management, Certified Information System Auditor and holds a degree in computer science.

Holcim Philippines president and CEO John Stull: “We are pleased to provide opportunities for local talent to take key leadership roles in the company. We are committed to further investment to develop our people so they can take on greater responsibilities not just in Holcim Philippines but in other LafargeHolcim companies around the world.”

Both production sites have recently completed equipment upgrades and operational efficiency improvements.

Last September, the Norzagaray plant inaugurated new storage and loading facilities that improve its ability to serve customers faster. The Lugait facility topped an internal competition to raise industrial performance with notable gains in improving costs by optimising fuel mix, power and raw materials.
