The year 2025 has been a landmark 12 months for Holcim UK. Amid growing pressures on the UK construction sector to deliver more homes and buildings while meeting environmental targets, the company has shown that sustainable construction is not just possible, but impactful. The year’s achievements culminate in a new video celebrating Holcim UK’s journey, a fitting close to a year of transformation.

A rebrand that inspires and unites

In March, Aggregate Industries became Holcim UK, uniting 25 trusted brands under one name. More than 200 sites and thousands of employees across the country came together under a single banner, signalling a renewed commitment to sustainability, circularity, and decarbonisation. The rebrand was a statement of ambition, purpose, and leadership in the UK construction sector.

Innovation and investment shaping the future

Throughout 2025, Holcim UK continued to invest in capabilities that support customers and communities. The acquisition of a London-based materials recycling business strengthened the company’s capacity to deliver circular solutions to urban projects. Its enhanced mortar offering has made sustainable construction more accessible to contractors and housebuilders, while the reopening of the Express Asphalt plant in Sharpness expanded the company’s supply footprint in the South West.

Holcim UK also marked significant milestones in national infrastructure. The supply of one million tonnes of materials to HS2 demonstrates the company’s ability to meet large-scale, complex project demands, while civils work completed at the Tilbury site highlights its growing contribution to UK infrastructure.

Putting circularity into practice

Holcim UK has turned circular economy principles into tangible outcomes. Its ECOCycle products transform construction and demolition waste into high-quality aggregates, asphalt, and concrete, making sustainable choices easier for the industry. The 2025 circularity survey found that 97% of respondents now see embracing the circular economy as important, and 57% of businesses have set circularity targets across all operations. These results demonstrate that Holcim UK is not only delivering sustainable materials but helping shape wider industry attitudes toward circular construction.

Making sustainability visible

Holcim UK has made sustainability tangible and inspiring. A 12-metre-high blue whale sculpture in London’s Canary Wharf was built using concrete incorporating recycled coffee grounds, cutting embodied carbon without compromising performance. While, the “Sustaina-Billboard” combined Holcim’s ECOPact low-carbon concrete with pollinator-friendly plants, gradually feeding local wildlife. Holcim UK’s biodiversity work was recognised this year, with awards from the Mineral Products Association for its efforts to enhance habitats across sites.

Looking ahead

Reflecting on the year, Lee Sleight, CEO of Holcim UK, said: “2025 has been a year of transformation and achievement. From our rebrand to innovations in circular construction, and from major infrastructure milestones to projects that bring sustainability to life, every decision has strengthened our partnerships and expanded our capabilities. I’d like to take this opportunity to wish our colleagues and customers a Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year.

“As we move into 2026, we will continue to build on the momentum we’ve generated this year to deliver solutions that benefit our customers, the communities we are part of, and the environment.”
