Hyundai Construction Equipment has developed two new wheeled loader safety advances -AAVM+ and Clearview X – as part of its Edition 25 update. These innovative visibility advances improve safety on-site, making it easier for operators to work efficiently and productively in all weather conditions.
Initially available on HL940A, HL955A, HL970A and HL975 Edition 25 loaders, AAVM+ takes Hyundai’s Advanced Around View Monitoring system to a new level by combining a rear-mounted radar sensor and a steering angle sensor with the multiple-camera AAVM set-up. Much like an automotive reversing camera system, AAVM+ indicates where the rear of the machine will travel when reversing, even when steering, highlighting hazards within the potential movement area.
The system uses a 180° radar to detect obstacles and highlight blind spots. The steering angle sensor allows the system to predict the arc of travel, and AAVM+ defines any danger zones within that area. The machine provides visual and audible warnings for the operator in the predicted zone of movement, making it easier for the driver to work with fewer false warnings.
Clearview X is an innovative twin-camera system that, in effect, helps the operator ‘see through’ the bucket on a wheeled loader. Using cameras mounted on the top and bottom of the machine, Clearview X displays the combined image in real time on the monitor in the cab. This allows the operator to see an image of what is in front of the machine, even if it is obscured by the bucket from the driver’s seat.
The system greatly enhances site safety, reducing the risk of collisions or harm to other site staff walking in front of the loader. A secondary benefit of the system is that it can provide a new forward view to the operator during material loading and unloading, increasing productivity and reducing operating time.
These two optional systems were initially developed for Hyundai’s core loader models, though additional A-Series machines may be added.
