The proposal, which will reduce carbon dioxide emissions, concerns Irish Cement’s cement kilns in Limerick, and the cement supplier is getting ready to have its environmental licence reviewed by Irish authorities.

The company stated that the burning of scrap tyres to make alternative fuels have been shown to produce no harm in terms of emission from the cement works and it will reduce waste going to the landfill as well as help use limited resources efficiently.
