Italcementi has disclosed that it has supplied 18,000tonnes of cement as part of the operation to right the stricken Costa Concordia cruise ship. The supplied cement consisted of the firm’s Ultracem, Termocem and Plastocem products, chosen especially for their individual properties following extensive tests in Italcementi laboratories. The cement has been used to create an underwater support for the ship during the recovery process. It will be removed once the wreck has been salvaged.
