A recycled aggregates activity has existed within the Lafarge group for over 15 years, but until now was without a name and not structured on a large scale.
Now, the French construction materials group has changed this by launching its offering under the name of Aggneo, structured in three parts. It comprises a services offering and two recycled aggregates ranges.
The services offering corresponds to Lafarge’s sites receiving inert debris.
Out of the group’s 83 sites for deposits in France, just 11 are equipped for the recycling, although this number is expected to double within a few years.
In terms of the two ranges, one consists of recycled aggregates used in the public works sector, and the other is recycled aggregates destined for the building sector.
According to the National Union of Aggregates Producers ( UNPG), 269 million tonnes of inert material from the demolition of roads, civil engineering structures and buildings are produced each year. Some 15 million of these go to recycling platforms to be made into recycled aggregates.
