Liebherr has long pioneered hydrostatic drives in its wheeled and tracked loaders. The company claims that the L586 is up to 25% more fuel efficient than a conventional drive machine. The system is also said to offer up to 25% less tyre wear and greatly reduced brake wear.

The company has also introduced a revised line of mid-size wheeled loaders with hydrostatic drives, the L524 2plus1 to the L542 2plus1. Liebherr’s ‘2plus1 technology’ control system allows the operator full use of the bucket or attachment while manoeuvring the machine. It is also claimed to offer higher travel speeds of up to 40km/h. The operator benefits from a 28% larger cab, with improved access and storage.
