Liebherr Group has lodged a construction permit application for a new production facility in Alsace dedicated to its earthmoving machine driver’s cabs.
Production at Liebherr-EMtec Nambsheim, a new Liebherr Group production site in Alsace, is scheduled to start 2028.
The facility, located in France, will support Liebherr Group’s plans to consolidate its expertise in the assembly of operator cabs for earthmoving machinery. The facility is designed for an annual capacity of 10,000 cabs in its first phase.
It will employ more than 200 people and is expected to serve as a competence centre for the earthmoving machinery product segment, centralising strategic expertise.
“The Nambsheim business park was selected due to its advantageous location and proximity to the Liebherr Group’s established sites. Equally decisive were the constructive cooperation with the responsible authorities and the successful territorial alignment of the project at the European level,” Liebherr said in its release.
“With this new initiative, the Group’s presence in Alsace — a region where Liebherr has been active since 1961 — is further strengthened, ensuring the region’s industrial heritage is carried forward with a focus on the future.
“Liebherr-EMtec Nambsheim is based on a simple belief, that sustainable industry is underpinned by an organisation that is simple, responsible, transparent and committed to by employees. This new Liebherr Group investment in Alsace is a long-term commitment on the economic, social, societal and environmental levels.”
