During a recent visit to the site, local MP Hannah Bardell praised Aggregate Industries’ Levenseat quarry in West Lothian, Scotland, for the ‘highly-valuable contribution’ it is making in helping to construct the region’s infrastructure.
Ms Bardell, who has been the Member of Parliament for Livingston since 2015, visited the sands quarry in Fauldhouse, Bathgate, to meet the production team and take an exclusive tour of the site. During the visit, Ms Bardell, who recently helped to create parliament’s first women’s lobby football team, took part in the ‘Keepy Up Challenge’.
The successful visit also involved an engaging roundtable discussion between Ms Bardell and key Levenseat staff such as Ian Waddell, director for Scotland at Aggregate Industries, on a range of important issues including upcoming projects in the region and the potential to strengthen links to the community through government funding.
Gender diversity in the workforce also proved an engaging topic with Aggregate Industries having recently been named as an ‘Endorsed Employer of Women’ by WORK180, a pioneering jobs platform that pre-screens employers to ensure they support women’s careers.
Ian Waddell, director for Scotland at Aggregate Industries, said: “We were delighted that Ms Bardell was able to join us at our Levenseat quarry and see first-hand how the materials we produce supply many of region’s most high-profile construction projects. Crucial to the success of these projects is having a diverse workforce, with our company-wide targets to boost female employees being one of the topics that was discussed with Ms Bardell. It was also great to see Hannah’s passion for football in action with the ‘Keepy Up Challenge’, which was great fun.”
