Quarry efficiency and productivity was keenly in the spotlight at the ConExpo-CON/AGG event in Las Vegas in March with a large number of new machines aimed at improving aggregate operations unveiled. While many of the products had already been seen in Europe and were unveiled at Conexpo as new to the US, there were still some major innovations on display for the first time.

Rockmore and Furukawa displayed new down the hole drilling solutions and Atlas Copco allowed visitors to try out its new drill training simulators. NPK entered the heavyweight hydraulic breaker market with the launch of the 11.3tonne GH50 hammer and Sandvik also added more models to its breaker range.

One of the major unveilings for the screening industry was Metso’s new Ellipti-Flo system that adds up to 30% more capacity than a traditional banana screen in the same footprint. Sandvik focused on helping customers improve their operations with its Quarry Academy programme and Aggflow also ran live training at the show. Trio also introduced its new materials handling division to visitors along with news of its prototype telescoping conveyor, while Atlas Copco displayed the rebranded Hartl Anlagenbau crushers for the first time.

On the hauling front, Caterpillar displayed its new B-series ADT range and its new 775G rigid truck, which is the fi rst to feature a Stage IV engine solution. Volvo displayed its new wheeled loader and ADT ranges and Case unveiled two new range-topping wheeled loaders.

China-based manufacturer LuiGong also broke the news that it has acquired Poland-based wheeled loader manufacturer HSW.
