Mannok has launched a new biodiversity committee as part of its commitment to biodiversity across its operations.
The new biodiversity commitment is line with the company’s 2030 vision. The new team will be focused on environmental improvements within the company.
The committee has already begun work on a tree-planting project at the insulation plant to improve biodiversity in the local community. These trees will help improve carbon storage capacity, supporting Mannok’s broader goals of reducing its carbon footprint and achieving net-zero targets.
“Looking beyond our own operations, we’re committed to supporting local biodiversity efforts. As signatories to the Business in the Community NI Biodiversity Charter, we’re working toward platinum status through ambitious targets and meaningful partnerships. We’re reaching out to local schools, community groups, clubs, and businesses to create lasting environmental improvements,” Mannok environmental manager Stephen Linden said.
“We firmly believe that tackling biodiversity loss requires collaboration between government, business, and community. By working with stakeholders at all levels, we aim to create lasting positive change in the areas where we operate.”
Mannok has partnered with Ulster Wildlife to develop a comprehensive biodiversity action plan across all its land holdings. Through detailed habitat assessments, wildlife surveys, and carbon measurements, Ulster Wildlife has helped Mannok understand the carbon currently stored in its lands, and identify opportunities for improvement.
“Biodiversity isn’t just another corporate responsibility box to tick. It’s a journey we’re all on together. By embedding ecological thinking into our business practices and community engagement, we can create meaningful change where we live and work,” Linden said.
“When we combine our efforts, the impact grows exponentially. It’s about taking action, getting involved, and building partnerships that drive positive change for everyone.”
