Martin Riley succeeds Phil Redmond as IQ president

Martin Riley is to become the new president of the Institute of Quarrying (IQ), taking over from Phil Redmond.

Redmond, a former MD of Hanson Aggregates UK, has reached the end of his two year term of office. He joined the IQ board of trustees in 2006 and moved through the vice chair position, to chairman and ultimately president.

Martin Riley joined the IQ board of trustees in 2016. He has extensive experience in the industry and is currently senior VP at Tarmac.

Redmond remarked of his successor: “Martin has been a solid support to me for many years. I am very grateful. His experience and standing in the industry are unrivalled and I cannot think of a more fitting person to hold the office of president of the Institute of Quarrying.

“We should all be proud of what we have in IQ. We must continue to work hard to grow the Institute’s reach. It is a critical foundation upon which the industry is built.”

Redmond added that being IQ president has been “the highlight of my career in the industry”.
