In response to growing demand from the South African quarry and mining market, Measurement Devices Ltd (MDL) and Optron have teamed up to establish a product service and repair capability.

This, they say, will enhance the service support offering to customers for MDL’s Quarryman 3D rock face profiler.

The facility is based at the Centurion head office of Optron which has been supplying and servicing products in sub-Saharan Africa for over 25 years, and has been an essential partner in providing MDL laser measurement systems to the South African market.

Rock face profiling, pre- and post-blast comparisons, as well as volumetric measurements, are essential for quarry and mining applications.

“At MDL we believe it is in the best interest of our customers for after-sales service and support to be provided locally,” says Martin Carr, global service manager for MDL.

“Part of this philosophy is reflected in our Accredited Service Centre programme, whereby we assess, train and develop our Channel Partners and key dealers to service, calibrate and repair our products. Optron is one of the pioneering MDL Channel Partners with regard to its commitment and investment in quality of service and after sales support.”

Sean Dane, segment manager at Optron says that increasing its service centre capabilities was an obvious choice.

“We are very proud to be an accredited Service Centre for the MDL Quarryman product.”
