Metso has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Q&R Industrial Hoses, expanding its slurry handling solutions and services.
Q&R Industrial Hoses is an Australian-based manufacturer of pinch valve sleeves, rubber hoses, and other rubber products and linings. This follows Metso’s acquisition of Jindex Pty Ltd in 2024.
“Joining forces with Metso marks an exciting new chapter for Q&R Industrial Hoses. Our expertise in specialty swivel hoses will complement Metso’s slurry handling solutions,” Q&R Industrial Hoses general manager and owner Brett Robinson said.
“We are delighted to become part of the Metso family and look forward to working together to deliver innovative, customer-focused solutions to the mining and minerals sectors.”
The acquisition is expected to close by the end of 2025 with the transacation value not disclosed.
“We have had a long relationship with Q&R, which has served Metso as a critical rubber parts manufacturing partner. Slurry hoses and pinch valve sleeves manufacturing are now being brought in-house, which will improve both our product range and customer service capability throughout the value chain,” Metso director of valves and hoses Christian Trulsson said.
“We can offer even more robust and reliable slurry handling solutions tailored to the needs of the mining and minerals sectors. We warmly welcome our new colleagues to Metso.”
Elsewhere, Metso has secured a major order which will see it replace a customer’s aging railcar dumper cells in the Pilbara region of Western Australia.
It expands the partnership after Metso has served the customer since 2002. The order includes design, supply, and technical support for installation and commissioning of the replacement units.
“We’re very proud to continue supporting our valued customer’s operations with advanced railcar handling solutions,” Metso president of Asia Pacific Stuart Sneyd said.
“For decades, the current dumper – provided by Metso – has demonstrated impressive reliability through robust design and exceptional durability.
“With this modernisation, they will benefit from the latest advancements and expertise in railcar dumper technology, enjoying industry-best practices, even greater efficiency and superior performance for years to come.”
