In April 2019, the Metso Outotec Truck Body was launched at the BAUMA fair in Munich. It was awarded “Product of the Year” by Mining Magazine, and garnered extensive media coverage. The launch has been a great success, with an ever-growing interest in this innovative solution.

TheMetso Outotec Truck Bodyis an optimized haul truck body that enables more payload to be hauled with less fuel and less maintenance. It’s a unique, one-piece, light-weight hybrid haul truck body that combines the best of high strength steel and flexible rubber material. It is also designed to lower hauling costs, in addition to offering a safer working environment whilst maximizing payload.
The Metso Outotec Truck Body is customized depending on the truck model and customer KPI’s and offers the following advantages.
Higher payload and volume
The Truck Body is 20-30% lighter than a conventional steel-lined truck body and designed for a higher volume. This enables more payload per round, resulting in improved operational efficiency.
Less maintenance
The wear-resistant rubber lining in the Truck Body lasts up to 6 times longer than conventional steel lining, drastically reducing maintenance. The rubber lining also absorbs impacts during loading, protecting the steel body and chassis. Regarding maintenance, the modular design of the rubber lining enables only the worn parts of the lining need to be replaced. Thanks to the bolted fixing method, this is done quickly and easily without welding. Our reference customers generally drive the bodies for 18,000 – 20,000h between service.
Better working environment
Thanks to the rubber lining, a truck equipped with the Truck Body is more comfortable to drive. The proven benefits include 50% less perceived noise and 97% less vibrations, which significantly improves the working environment.
A versatile solution
Each Truck Body is engineered with a customized lining solution fit for the specific requirements of the operation. This means that the body is suited for all types of applications. Carry-back can be prevented with Metso Outotec’s Flexible Lining option, allowing the total capacity of the truck to be fully utilized to haul payload, improving operational efficiency.
Better fuel economy
Combining the lower weight of the Truck Body with the increased payload results in lower fuel consumption per hauled tonne. The benefits add up during return rounds when the truck is empty, it simply takes less fuel to move a lighter body.
