Preparations are all set for the upcoming Circular Cities and Policy Summit 2025, running 3-6 June and hosted by the Global Cement and Concrete Association (GCCA) in partnership with Mexico City.
With one week to go, this pivotal event will bring together hundreds of industry leaders, policymakers, public authorities, urban planners, developers, and other built environment practitioners to explore sustainable urban development and the role of circularity in building resilient cities and communities. The summit will also focus on government and municipal policy, and how it can enable a revolution in sustainability in the built environment.

World-class experts including sustainability leaders, CEOs and senior representatives have been assembled to lead key discussions, including speakers from globally renowned companies and organisations including Amazon, United Nations, Gensler, Build Change, US Green Building Council, Urban Land Institute, OECD, and CEOs of some of the world’s leading building industry companies.

The summit runs alongside the GCCA global industry gathering and will include key policy dialogue and case studies exploring key themes around Circularity and the Built Environment; Energy and Materials; Nature Based Solutions (NBS); and Policy and Futures Perspective to mitigate climate change. The summit will also examine the necessary action to adapt to a changing climate to ensure greater resilience across the built environment.
The 4-day programme also includes a field trip to the Reforma district, which will highlight the contribution cement and concrete can make to mitigate the impact of natural disasters, and a visit to the award-winning Torre Reforma earthquake-resistant skyscraper. The summit will conclude on 6 June with a guided tour of Cemex’s state-of-the-art Tepeaca cement plant, the largest and most modern in the LatAm region and will highlight innovations in sustainable cement production, circularity and the benefits it offers to the management of waste in one of the largest cities in the world.
Mr Guillot added: “The built environment – whether it’s through durable building materials such as concrete, or more effective design in our homes and infrastructure – can step up to address the urgent challenge caused by climate impacts, whilst also reducing its carbon footprint. We are seeing increasing weather events, such as flash flooding and hurricanes, and know that greater action is needed now by all players to ensure that we adapt and best protect our world.”
