Organisers of bauma China 2016 say that more than 2,400 exhibitors have signed up already for to the prestigious exhibition being held at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre (SNIEC) from 22-25 November.

Speaking about the eighth International Trade Fair for Construction Machinery, Building Material Machines, Mining Machines and Construction Vehicles, set to attract more than 180,000 attendees, predominantly from Asia, Collin Davis, project group manager at bauma China 2016 organisers Messe München, said that despite a tougher Chinese economic climate, there’s “no doubt” that the event “remains by far the biggest and most important sector event in the Asian region.”

There is expectation that the Chinese market will recover significantly in the medium term. This is due not only to the numerous new construction projects stimulating machine production, but also to the new emissions guidelines which necessitate new systems and machines. Off-Highway Research forecasts that the Chinese market for construction machinery will achieve a sales volume of US$17.169 billion in 2016—a slight upward trend.

Although the sales figures for construction machinery in China have been falling for a number of years, the Germany-based VDMA confirmed that in 2015, 20% of all construction machinery sold around the world was still purchased in China. The Chinese market is the second-largest individual market after the US, and companies wanting to gain access to the Asian region are being urged to be present at bauma China 2016.
