The UK’s Mineral Products Association (MPA) used this week’s Hillhead exhibition in Derbyshire, UK as a platform to launch its new tool to help the industry improve safety. The ‘Safer by Association’ is MPA’s new site-based health and safety audit package which is offered free to its member to assist them in their quest to deliver a safer, healthier industry, with the ultimate aim of achieving zero harm.
MPA chief executive Nigel Jackson said, “The ‘Safer by Association’ package is designed to help members further improve their health and safety performance and is just one of a series of new tools MPA is developing as part of our mission to achieve zero harm.”
The package offers the means for member companies to carry out a health and safety self-audit of a single or multiple quarry sites. A range of resources, such as guidance and example procedures, is currently being identified and collated by MPA which will enable members to address gaps or shortcomings highlighted by the audit.
‘Safer by Association’ has been initiated by a specialist task force from the MPA Health and Safety Committee which has cherry-picked the best features from a variety of existing corporate schemes. Though initially focusing on health & safety, future extensions of MPA’s audit package could also embrace environment and quality.
