The new Cat C9.3B industrial engine, compliant with EU Stage V emissions standards, is now available from Finning UK and Ireland (Finning), sole supplier of Cat engines in the UK and Ireland.

The six-cylinder, 9.3litre engine builds on the capabilities of previous Cat models that have logged more than 200 million hours in real-world, off-highway applications, while meeting the stringent emission requirements of the upcoming EU Stage V standards.

Finning will be exhibiting the engine at Hillhead 2018 (26–28 June at Hillhead Quarry in Buxton, county Derbyshire, England) on stand Z5,

Featuring a new high pressure common rail fuel system and simplified air, electrical and aftertreatment technology, the C9.3B can produce up to 340kW of power and 2,088Nm of torque.

It is said to deliver 18% more power and 21% more torque than its predecessor, while weighing 12% less.

Patented aftertreatment technology provides a compact, lightweight design, which is 39% smaller and 55% lighter than the Tier 4 Final product.

Offered in a range of different configurations, the C9.3B industrial engine is available with engine-mounted aftertreatment and installed radiators from the factory.

Keith Andrews, Industrial Business Unit manager at Finning, explains: “As the EU Stage V emissions standards draw ever closer, the next generation of engines to meet these regulations have been developed by Cat, offering simplified design, improved performance and easy installation.

“Supported by Cat’s extensive experience in the off-highway construction market, the C9.3B engine has undergone thorough testing to ensure it can meet the industry’s newest and most stringment standards.

“The engine’s increased power and torque, combined with a simpler, lighter package, means users will enjoy greater performance and lower fuel consumption by up to 3 per cent. The system also offers exceptional starting capabilities in cold climates.

“By building upon proven technology, Cat has developed an industrial engine that can confidently meet a user’s expectations for quality, performance and reliability. As the sole supplier of Cat equipment in the UK and Ireland, we will be exhibiting the solution at this year’s Hillhead event. Attendees should visit stand Z5 to find out more.”
