Volkan Bozay has been appointed as the CEO of the Turkish Cement Manufacturers’ Association (TÇMB), the international representative of the Turkish cement sector.
He succeeds İsmail Bulut. The TÇMB says Bulut will continue as the advisor to the chairman of the board of directors, having made significant contributions to the strategic working areas of the TÇMB while he was CEO.
Bozay has been an executive in the public and private sectors for many years. He worked as the corporate relations manager at British American Tobacco and held this position until taking up his new role at TÇMB on October 13.
He started his professional career at the Undersecretariat of Treasury and Foreign Trade. He worked as the head of the financing department of the Housing Development Administration of Turkey (TOKI) and was a board member of the Emlak Konut Real Estate Investment Company.
Prior to that he had public sector positions including assistant expert in foreign trade – R&D unit, and expert in foreign trade. Bozay continued to serve in the public sector with his position as the vice general manager for publicity at the Ministry of Culture and Tourism from 2004-2006.
He received his Master’s Degree from the department of finance and strategy at Claremont Graduate University having graduated from the department of business management at Middle East Technical University (METU). In addition to his professional career, Bozay has served since 2011 as a member of the Turkish Exporters’ Assembly, and board member of the National Association of Tobacco Products Manufacturers and Exporters’ Association of Aegean Exporters Tobacco and Tobacco Products Unions.
Dr. Tamer Saka, chairman of the board of TÇMB, said that Bozay will make significant contributions to the organisation and sector with his valuable experience in the public and private sectors. “First and foremost of these contributions will be to carry the TÇMB to its future vision by realising the strategic priorities of the sector,” Saka added.
