Carlos Sánchez Galán has been promoted within Heidelberg Materials Hispania to serve as the new general manager of the Spanish subsidiary.

Galán will take over from Jesús Ortiz Used, who held the general manager position for 17 years. Galán previously served as the commercial director of cement and operations and director of aggregates and concrete for the Spanish subsidiary of Heidelberg Materials.

In his new role, he will be responsible for leading the Spanish subsidiary, which has a presence in cement, aggregates and concrete markets.

“In 2025, it will be essential to continue improving our results and this is only possible with the contribution of our aggregates and concrete businesses. These sectors are strategic and allow us the necessary integration of Heidelberg Materials activities. Product innovation and improved operational efficiency will be key to achieving these objectives,” Galán said.

“Decarbonisation will continue to be a key priority, and I am committed to carrying forward the projects already underway, as well as exploring new opportunities to reduce our carbon footprint, an essential step to maintain our current leadership position and growth.”

Galán joined Heidelberg Materials in 1997, originally as the director of the Canary Islands region. In the intervening years, he has worked across the group’s commercial operations and purchasing operations in Spain. He has also represented Heidelberg Materials across national and international sector associations.

Heidelberg Materials has two cement factories, five quarries and four concrete plants in Spain. The group thanked Ortiz for his leadership and commitment to Heidelberg Materials Hispania.

“My goal is to continue and expand the legacy of innovation and sustainability that we have been building at Heidelberg Materials Hispania under the leadership of Jesús Ortiz,” Galán said.
