Having been secretary of the British Aggregates Association (BAA) since its inception in 2000, Peter Huxtable is stepping down from his longtime executive role.

A BAA statement read: “Peter’s contribution over the years has helped bring the BAA to where it is today, and it’s fair to say without him, things would be very different. His presence and dedication will be sorely missed, and we would like to wish him a very long and happy future. He will always be welcome at any of our functions.”

Speaking to Aggregates Businessabout his long service as BAA secretary, Peter said: “Since first meeting up with Bob [Durward – BAA director and founder] at Cloburn on a wintry morning in January 2000, I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all the experiences gained in helping the BAA tackle all the industry’s challenges over the last 23 years, and in helping to establish the association as the recognised voice of the independent aggregate industry, highly regarded and respected by industry colleagues, government and regulators.”

Commenting on Peter’s workfor the BAA, association chairman Paul McManus said: “I’d like to express my personal gratitude and sincere thanks to Peter for all his sterling work on behalf of the association since its inception. I know Bob Durward greatly appreciated everything you have done. Please also accept my sincere personal thanks for the support, guidance and sound counsel you have given me since Bob’s passing.”
