PVL Limestone has received approval from the San Bernardino County to construct a clean lime plant at Trona, California.
Trona is a community located at the western edge of Searles Lake, a dry lake bed in Searles Valley, southwest of Death Valley.
PVL says low emissions and safety to the community and its employees were “paramount design considerations” for the plant.
The company will convert limestone from the operating PVL quarry into lime, which will be distributed to customers in California and potentially nearby markets.
As part of the deal, PVL is to employ more than 30 people from the Trona area to work at the plant.
Additionally, PVL is to enter the bight white limestone markets in Southern California.
