Raymond Brown Aggregates has won a new long-term contract for incinerator bottom ash (IBA) processing with one of the UK’s leading recycling, waste management and renewable energy companies.

Raymond Brown was chosen by Viridor to build and operate a new IBA processing facility to produce a secondary aggregate (IBA aggregate) at its new County Oxfordshire plant.

The contract will last for 15-years and will see Raymond Brown, one of the country’s leading IBA processing companies, invest more than £2 million (€2.5 million) in new processing equipment.

“We are delighted to have secured these two long term IBA processing contracts. It’s a great achievement as part of our plan to become the leading producer of IBA aggregate in the UK,” said Steve Cole, Raymond Brown’s environmental and development director.

“IBA aggregate already has an impressive track record for use as a sustainable sub-base in the construction industry. By introducing IBA processing into the Oxfordshire market, we will be making a major contribution to the county’s mineral plan and will reduce the reliance on primary aggregates.”

The contract secured with Viridor will produce around 75,000tonnes of IBA aggregate each year at the new Ardley Energy from Waste facility near Oxford.

Raymond Brown will be installing this new custom built IBA processing plant at Ardley, to be operational by August 2014.
