Sandvik has agreed to acquire Diemme Filtration, establishing a new filtration division within its rock processing unit and broadening its product range.
The acquisition of the Italian-based filtration and dewatering solutions company marks Sandvik’s entry into the filtration and dewatering market, which it estimates has a total addressable market estimated to be over SEK 20 billion.
“I am very pleased with this acquisition, which is strongly aligned with our strategy to grow in attractive niches in downstream mining,” Sandvik president and chief executive officer Stefan Widing said.
“With Diemme Filtration we add a profitable and fast-growing niche within mineral processing to our core offering, that strengthens our position with key mining customer groups and brings an attractive aftermarket business.”
Diemme Filtration is headquartered in Lugo, Italy, with its own manufacturing facility and research and development capabilities. Its customer base includes the copper, gold, nickel, and battery‑materials mining sectors, with revenues for 2026 estimated to be around SEK 1.1 billion. The purchase price of the acquisition was not disclosed, but the deal is expected to be finalised by the third quarter of 2026.
Filtration is key to downstream mining and is a sector experiencing strong demand, with several trends underpinning this growth in demand. This includes stricter water and tailings regulations as well as declining ore grades which has prompted mines towards higher slurry volumes.
Sandvik president of rock processing Richard Harris said in addition to its engineered-to-order filtration systems, Diemme Filtration has a sizeable aftermarket business as well as proprietary software with high growth potential.
“Diemme Filtration’s offering is highly complementary to Rock Processing and gives us a strong position in a segment that is central to mining customers’ future flowsheets,” he said.
“It directly supports our strategy for eco-efficient rock processing and brings an opportunity to increase aftermarket penetration by leveraging Sandvik’s global service footprint.”
