SCB International Materials (SCB) has signed a long-term agreement with Inversiones Ban Sai (Ban Sai) which will significantly increase the production, export and marketing of natural gypsum and other products derived from Ban Sai’s Los Charquitos quarry in the Dominican Republic.

SCB, dedicated to the supply of raw materials for the cement industry, will provide marketing and shipping support to Ban Sai in the Caribbean, Latin America and the United States – with the firm’s investment in operations at Los Charquitos likely to increase production by 50%.

“I believe that to be successful, SCB must provide value to our suppliers as well as our customers. This investment will help Ban Sai improve the efficiencies of the operations at the quarry.  We can pass these savings on to our customers. This business model differentiates SCB in the marketplace from traders and commodity brokers allowing us to continue to bring affordable quality products to our customers,” said Peter D’Amico, president and CEO of SCB.

Ban Sai is currently the largest operator and industrial exporter of natural gypsum in the Dominican Republic with reserves of more than 26 million tonnes. The ambitious company is keen to become the largest producer of gypsum in the Caribbean.
