According to Dwi Soetjipto, managing director of Semen Indonesia, the cement producer has started work on its new cement plant in Rembang. The green plant, with capacity of 3 million tonnes/year covers 5 hectares, and some 30% of the area around the plant will be used as an open green area. The environmentally-friendly features of the plant include strict emission control, use of alternative energy as well as lower utilization of electricity and water.
