The power of three is often said to lead to success – but it’s the power of four that Cotswold Stone Solutions is toasting in 2016. The Cheltenham, county Gloucestershire, England-based company goes from strength to strength with the acquisition of a new quarry, a state-of-the-art new processing plant, planning permission for an existing quarry extension, and the appointment of a well-known industry heavyweight to the firm’s board of directors.

The company’s Syreford Quarry has invested £750,000 in a brand new purpose built stone processing facility which has given it the capability to produce 140 tonnes/week of worked masonry stone and building products. This  coupled with the company’s in-house highly skilled team of stone masons now allows the firm to manage projects of any size.  The company has also recently secured planning permission for the extension of Syreford Quarry covering an additional 10 acres, allowing the company to extract 230,000tonnes of high quality stone over the next 23 years.

Cotswold Stone Solutions has also secured the lease to quarry at 3Gates Quarry, near Ford, Cheltenham. Together with the company’s new purpose built processing facility at Syreford, this gives the firm a platform to provide customers with an exceptional product range and services to match. 3Gates Quarry extracts highly sought after prestigious white Guiting and Guiting cream dimensional block stone for architectural masonry and building stone. The site has the ability to produce between 15-20,000tonnes/year.

Family-owned Cotswold Stone Solutions  is also delighted  to welcome to the board of directors Bill Bolsover CBE, who has been appointed as non-executive chairman. A former chairman and CEO of Aggregate Industries and executive director at Tarmac, Bolsover is a Fellow of the Institute of Quarrying and Companion of the Chartered Institute of Management. He was also chairman of the UK Strategic Forum for Construction and chairman of the Construction Products Association.  Bill is a non-executive director of Brett Group in Kent and is also chairman of Hawke Plant.

Matt Dovey, managing director of Cotswold Stone Solutions, said: “From our base in the heart of the Cotswolds, we are privileged to produce award winning natural stone for both architectural masonry and building stone. The warm appearance and durability of Cotswold stone is appreciated and admired throughout the world. Our portfolio has included supplying Windsor Castle, Hampton Court, St George’s Chapel, Eton College, Truro Cathedral and Blenheim Palace to name but a few.

“Limestone has been extracted from Syreford Quarry for hundreds of years and together with our in-house team of skilled masons, we produce the highest quality range of stone products in the UK. We produce flagstone & stone flooring, architectural masonry, building stone and fireplaces. Our vast experience of working with stone enables us to assist clients with the design and specification using the wide range of natural limestone colours that are available providing customers with an exceptional product range and service to match.

Of Bolsover’s appointment, Dovey added: “Bill Bolsover brings to the Group a wealth of industry knowledge and business insight and we believe his many years of experience in our sector will promote our continued success and growth.”
