McLanahan and SunEnviro are partnering for an Open Day on 3 September 2025 at SunEnviro’s site in Thetford, Norfolk, England. The two companies are inviting industry professionals to experience McLanahan’s innovative recycling system that washes and recovers materials from construction and demolition sites, excavation waste, and trommel fines as part of SunEnviro’s effort to turn waste into valuable recycled aggregates under the SunAggregates brand.
SunEnviro’s latest facility – one of several located throughout England – processes up to 100,000 tonnes of waste annually into premium aggregate products and sand, in compliance with British Standards. Key system elements include a McLanahan UltraSCRUB, UltraSAND, and HRT10 Thickener, which work together to ensure high throughput, minimal water use, and full site circularity—all this culminating with the final step in the process – a McLanahan Filter Press.

This Open Day will offer those looking to improve or add a recycling process to their plant, as well as those who are struggling with the upcoming costs associated with the end of qualifying for trommel fines in the U.K., significant insight into best practices for building a circular system.
David Hunter, Business Line Director of McLanahan Corporation, said: “This plant proves that localised waste processing can be both sustainable and commercially viable, supporting the regional construction supply chain.”
What Makes This Site Unique?
Multiple aspects make SunEnviro’s Thetford site unique. Comprised entirely of McLanahan equipment and plants, the system has been designed to minimise water intake and ensure the process retains as much material and water on site as possible.

The compact footprint of this site has meant that the planning process for McLanahan was considerable. The system completes an “L” shape on site, keeping the various components tucked in along two sides, maximising room for feed material and clean and sorted end products.
Mat Stewart, Managing Director, SunEnviro, added: “We are delighted to showcase how recycled aggregates can meet market demands and environmental objectives simultaneously, whilst also fitting around on-site obstacles and dimensions.”
