Tarmac has been praised by a prestigious green business forum for its work to cut carbon at its Tunstead cement and lime operations in County Derbyshire, central England.
The company was highly commended by judges at the nationalGreen Business Awards 2011in London, where it secured recognition in the Carbon Reduction category.
The awards are one the UK’s leading sustainable business events, and recognise companies that have achieved environmental and sustainability excellence.
Dr Martyn Kenny, Tarmac’s director of sustainability said: “We’re really proud to have received this recognition, at such an important national event. Tarmac is taking the lead by showing how the essential materials it produces can be manufactured in a way that minimises environmental impacts.”
