County Cumbria-based Hyundai dealer, Taylor & Braithwaite has sold its biggest excavator to date, the new Hyundai R520LC-9A, to David Bainbridge, managing director of family run civil engineering business DSB, located in Kirkby Stephen, Eden Valley, Cumbria.

The 52 tonne machine is working on one of Cumbria’s most exciting developments, the £12 million (€18 million) Carlisle Airport Stobart air scheme (part of the Stobart Group). Construction of the airport’s new distribution centre has started, with passenger flights scheduled to Dublin (Ireland) and London set to start in September. In less than a year, the site will be transformed by the creation of huge freight distribution depot.

Since Taylor & Braithwaite took on the Hyundai dealership for the area, DSB has purchased all its machines from the company. Its fleet comprises the new R520LC-9A; an R235 long reach (adapted from a standard R235); an R145LC and an R55.

The R520LC-9A is powered by a fuel efficient, low emission and low noise Cummins Tier 4 Interim and EU Stage IIIB engine. Special attention was paid to operator safety. A new steel tube construction raised the level of protection and increased durability. All windows consist of safety glass.
